Alton Reaffirms Commitment To Pledge 1% This Giving Tuesday

NEW YORK (December 1, 2020) – Alton Aviation Consultancy is proud to continue its support of Pledge 1% on this Giving Tuesday, the global day of giving.

Pledge 1% is a global philanthropic movement that encourages companies and individuals to give 1% of equity, product or employee time for their communities. Alton’s largest charity beneficiary is Airlink, the rapid-response humanitarian relief organization.

In 2020, Alton’s donations to Airlink have directly supported non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to transport 487,490 lbs of cargo and 522 aid workers and volunteers to 19 different emergencies worldwide, including the Beirut explosion and Hurricanes Eta, Laura, and Sally.

John Mowry managing director in Alton’s New York office, says: “Social responsibility has been core to our business values since the founding of Alton. In 2017, we were the first aviation and aerospace company to join Pledge 1%, and today, despite these unprecedented times, it is important to us that we follow through on this commitment. We are delighted to see how our efforts support Airlink in its valuable work responding to crises worldwide.”

Airlink has significantly supported COVID-19 relief efforts, and in April 2020 launched the Aviation C.A.R.E.S campaign (Co-ordinated Air Response for Emergency Supplies) to provide a sustainable pipeline of airlift for relief organizations working to help communities affected by the pandemic.
Nearly 8,000,000 pieces of Personal Protective Equipment have been delivered to hospitals on the front lines of the virus response. The charity has also helped NGOs move more than 400,000 lbs of cargo, including sanitization kits and medical supplies.

Steve Smith, Airlink president and CEO adds: “We are deeply grateful for Alton’s continued support. Given how tough this year has been for all businesses within the aviation sector, Alton’s donation to Airlink is an amazing achievement. It also demonstrates what a big-hearted industry the aviation sector is. Alton’s contribution has directly helped provide hope and aid to people impacted by natural and man-made disaster across the globe”.

In addition to financial donations, Alton also contributes 1% of its employees’ time every year to philanthropic efforts supporting the local areas around the firm’s offices in New York, Dublin, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, and Beijing. To find out more.
