Umang Gupta leads Alton’s global airlines advisory practice, providing strategic guidance and insight to operators from full-service legacy airlines to ultra low-cost carriers, charter and cargo operators, and other niche service providers as they tackle their most challenging commercial, financial, and operational issues.
Based in Alton’s New York office, Umang brings over 20 years of experience in airline strategy and revenue growth to Alton, with significant expertise in route planning, revenue management, sales and distribution, marketing, alliances, ancillary revenues, new product development and loyalty programs across global markets.
Before joining Alton, Umang held leadership positions at several major US airlines including United Airlines where he was responsible for domestic revenue management. At JetBlue Airways, Umang served as President of JetBlue Vacations where he developed the strategy to supercharge growth of JetBlue’s Vacations business and non-air travel products and partnerships, successfully quadrupling revenues. He also held senior roles in marketing and strategic planning and revenue analysis with the airline. Previously at US Airways, Umang focused on operations research after initiating his career with Sabre.
Umang’s international academic background includes an MBA from INSEAD business school in Singapore and France, a master's degree in Transportation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering at Punjab Engineering College in India.
