Alton Aviation Consultancy Recognized by Airfinance Journal for Commercial Aviation 2020 M&A Deal of the Year
Leah Ryan, managing director with Alton Aviation Consultancy noted: “Virgin Australia was one of the Asia-Pacific region’s first high-profile casualties following the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the corporate rescue of the airline was one of the most high-profile and complex deals of the last decade.”
Virgin Australia was the first major airline to restructure its financings and operating leases amidst the complex market conditions caused by Covid-19. The revised leasing and financing terms agreed were amongst the first significant set of permanent terms agreed globally between an airline and its leasing and financing counterparties post-pandemic.
John Mowry, managing director with Alton Aviation Consultancy, adds: “We’re pleased to have had the opportunity to support Bain Capital, and for Airfinance Journal to have recognized Bain Capital’s investment along with the work of Alton Aviation Consultancy, Herbert Smith Freehills, Korda Mentha and other professional advisors that contributed to the transaction.”
The Deal of the Year Awards are held annually by Airfinance Journal and celebrate the most innovative transactions, teams, and individuals in aviation finance. Alton Aviation Consultancy and Herbert Smith Freehills, in conjunction with other advisers, advised Bain Capital on all fleet related matters.
In addition to the M&A Deal of the Year award, Alton Aviation Consultancy provided advisory and/or transaction support services related to three deals of the year in other categories that were recognized at the ceremony.
